Salem - Join The Church Tour

Salem - Join The Church Tour

Following on from the success of their recent two EPs, Salem set out on their 19 date 'Join the Church' tour around the UK, stopping at Norwich on Tuesday 19th October to play at The Waterfront. Frontman Will Gould and guitarist Matthew Reynolds were joined by Ranny Ransom on bass and Jack Wrench on drums for a jaw-dropping, fast paced and spectacular night.

They started the set strongly with the opening song from their debut EP; 'Fall Out Of Love' and Will instantly had the crowd singing along to the first lines. Following this dramatic start, came the super punky 'DRACULADS' enhanced by Will wearing the T-shirt. (I of course nabbed one of these from the merch stand!) Every single line was delivered perfectly, full of emotion and confidence - I think this song was the highlight of the performance for me, and Will's signature spin and point move will be forever in my dance repertoire!

After a beautifully theatrical performance of 'Heaven Help Me', Will Gould dedicated 'Doomed (for each other)' to the couples in the room. Of course I know every word to these songs, and Will's engagement with the crowd and encouragement to join in made this a fantastic experience at barrier for me, I felt really involved, as you can see from the videos!

Everyone was singing along to the catchy chorus of 'Sweet Tooth',  I wish I could go back and relive this performance! The happy energy in the room was buzzing at this point. Next was a sultry performance of 'Throat' with more singing and microphone swinging. I keep changing my highlights of the night as this review progresses and whilst watching back the videos I took!

Two of my personal favourite songs from the EPs 'Eyesore' and 'William, It Was Really Something' continued to build the set. The emotions and energy levels from the stage including a massive guitar solo from Matthew in the latter song were peak! It has to be said the eye contact and charisma that oozes from Will Gould is a natural gift.

They followed this with an upbeat cover of The Damned's 'New Rose' and moved to the finale 'Keep The Thorns', leaving the stage at the end of the song with the lyrics "So long farewell, guess I'll see you in hell".

Returning for an energetic encore of 'Destroy Me' - the band's first single and an obvious crowd favourite. Will told the audience that they had to either dance or sing along to this one, and they delivered, moshing and squeezing as far forward as they could to sing with Will into his microphone. This was a perfect ending to an amazing night, I'm so gutted it's over and hope to catch Salem live again soon!

Salem are halfway through this tour and are playing Leeds tonight, with upcoming shows including Glasgow, Guildford and London, before finishing the tour in spooky Salem fashion on Halloween with a sold out show in Southampton.

Declan McKenna Zeros Tour

Declan McKenna Zeros Tour J1, Cambridge Junction - 23rd August 2021 "Cambridge are the OG's... everyone in this room saw me busking in the street 5 years ago." Declan McKenna appreciatively told the sold out crowd on the first night of his Zeros Tour, kicking off in Cambridge last night. With the checkerboard stage set with glitter balls and confetti cannons, the atmosphere was electric! You better believe Declan was on top form wearing his glittery suit, and the set had everything that you could have asked for. This gig was a humongous deal for me as it marked my return to indoor gigs for the first time in 18 months, and I couldn't think of anyone better to do it with than Declan! He gave the crowd exactly what they wanted with a blistering start performing 'Beautiful Faces', 'Rapture' and 'Sagittarius A*' accompanied by the confetti cannons going off, making sure that the concert literally started with a bang!  Declan appeared to be full of ...

My Favourite Memories from Gigs

My Favourite Memories from Gigs (All of these photos and videos were taken by me and are my own personal videos) With the news that concerts may be returning from 21st of June, I got myself some tickets booked, in the hopes that I may get to do some gig reviews! This got me thinking back to all the concerts I've been to before, so I've decided to share some of my favourite memories and experiences from gigs! 1. Remington Leith Concerning the Health and Safety Officials! I went to see Palaye Royale at Shepherd's Bush O2 Empire on the 21st February 2020. It was the most exciting concert I've ever been to, and it ended with frontman Remington Leith climbing up onto the balcony and hanging upside down! I was lucky enough to meet the band at their pop-up shop the next day, and Remington told me his mum wasn't impressed with the danger he was putting himself in!  2. Awsten Knight's Superpower On the 1st of February 2020, I had VIP tickets to see Waterparks in the Elec...

Greysha - 'Gold Glaze' Single Review

19 year old, Shropshire based singer/songwriter Greysha released 'Gold Glaze' on 20th October.  A beautiful and reflective song about looking back at key events in your life. Told from the perspective of growing up it touches on lots of subjects many teenagers will recognise in themselves, not wanting to be in class, rebellious piercings, also however the more serious and poignant subjects of family and looking back at happier times.  As a subscriber to her mailing list from back when I bought the CD of her previous single 'Aspirin' , Greysha said of 'Gold Glaze' on release "I have poured my soul and a little part of who I am into this" The inflection and emotion she puts into the vocals literally make you feel this is true. A track with layered harmonies and cinematic strings, you smile and you even sing along to the "Gold Glaze" part but you also feel Greysha's pain at times..."Tell the darkness to stay back another day"  Gr...
