'Wasted Time' - Candid Single Review


Coventry based indie band Candid released their brand new single 'Wasted Time' on 10th September. 

With a massive intro this song grabs you from the start and the addition of the synth pop blending with the indie rock makes such a distinctively unique sound. The song is big and catchy, it gets you dancing and skilfully draws you in and keeps your attention from start to finish. The expressive vocals, the infectious drum beats and the clever guitar underpinning the powerful keys give the song its character. 

The video is genius and takes this track to another level, I recommend watching this first as it will make you smile and relate to the song on future listening. The band say that after two years of lockdowns and misery they mean business now and the chorus itself backs up this claim with its lyrics "I don't wanna fight, I can't sit and waste any more time".

With BBC Radio backing, festivals and a support slot for The Snuts in Birmingham in October, Candid definitely aren't wasting any more time and I would love to see this band live as can only imagine a performance as attention grabbing as this song!

  Waterparks - The Anti Tour Show Allow the self indulgence, but I'm going to write a review of my favourite band - Waterparks, who just did an online concert through Veeps last night - The Anti Tour Show (27th March). It's been just over a year since I last saw Awsten Knight, Geoff Wigington and Otto Wood live in London, and since this they've released two further singles 'Lowkey As Hell' and 'Snow Globe' which will feature on their new album 'Greatest Hits' out May 21st.  The stage was beautiful, set up like a forest. 'Salem II' EP Review

  'Salem II' EP Review Grace Calver Salem are front-vamp Will Gould (also of the band Creeper) and guitarist Matthew Reynolds, they burst onto the scene with The Apathy Ball and the release of their debut single 'Destroy Me' last year. Today (Friday 7th May) they release their second EP titled 'Salem II'. One of the main things I love about them and this EP is the imagery created with the lyrics and music. The lexical fields of vampires, love and darkness that can be found through all of the songs, paired with the gothic, theatrical and punky sound.  There is an eerie start to this EP with the introduction of the first track; 'William, It Was Really Nothing' before the punchy guitars explode in.
