'Ripping Us Apart' - Waiting Till Marriage Single Review

'Ripping Us Apart' - Waiting Till Marriage Single Review

Waiting Till Marriage are Adam (Guitar/Vocals). Brandon (Guitar/Keys), Liam (Bass) and Ieuan (Drums), an indie rock band based in Liverpool. They released their debut single 'Ripping Us Apart' on 25th June.

The song starts with a great head bopping, summery intro that has you dancing from the off, you are straight in singing along with the "aha, aha".

Then the realisation that you're singing along to lyrics such as "I'm taking back everything I said, the past few weeks have been a train wreck on my heart". The guilt hits that you're actually partying to this poor guy's misfortune "It seems like you're ripping us apart for the fun"

A story of heartbreak that they've managed to make into a bouncy and upbeat summer party vibe! Genius! Uplifting hooks are played on both guitar and bass, then with a powerful bass solo included which i always love, the syncopated drums and expressive vocals lead to a brilliantly effective complete track.

The band said they have been working on their live set for a year and a half now, and have gigs booked including Jimmy's in August and with This Feeling in October.  They've had radio play for 'Ripping Us Apart' on BBC Introducing NorthWest prior to release even and we are promised a lyric video for the single on 9th July! I think it's safe to say we can expect more great things from Waiting Till Marriage.

The Skinner Brothers - 'Iconic' EP Review

The Skinner Brothers - 'Iconic' EP Review Tomorrow (Friday 7th May 2021) sees The Skinner Brothers drop their new EP 'Iconic'!  As their Spotify bio says, "The Skinner Brothers don't fuck about" and this 4-track EP backs up this claim! The EP explodes into action with two new tracks and two previously released singles - but with a twist. First up, the title track 'Iconic' starts with Zac Skinner's vocals and a guitar - then the beat comes in hard and we're rockin'! This is an amazing start, a track full of swag and attitude and will get the crowd chanting along "Iconic" in the build up to the final chorus. 'Iconic' is for winning the game with success against all odds "Get on it, step on it, subsonic, iconic." The second, and other brand new track is 'M.O.R.E', heavier than 'Iconic', it starts small and grows into an anthem oozing with self confidence. 'M.O.R.E' mentions getting up m

Greysha - 'Gold Glaze' Single Review

19 year old, Shropshire based singer/songwriter Greysha released 'Gold Glaze' on 20th October.  A beautiful and reflective song about looking back at key events in your life. Told from the perspective of growing up it touches on lots of subjects many teenagers will recognise in themselves, not wanting to be in class, rebellious piercings, also however the more serious and poignant subjects of family and looking back at happier times.  As a subscriber to her mailing list from back when I bought the CD of her previous single 'Aspirin' , Greysha said of 'Gold Glaze' on release "I have poured my soul and a little part of who I am into this" The inflection and emotion she puts into the vocals literally make you feel this is true. A track with layered harmonies and cinematic strings, you smile and you even sing along to the "Gold Glaze" part but you also feel Greysha's pain at times..."Tell the darkness to stay back another day"  Gr

Waterparks - The Anti Tour Show

Waterparks - The Anti Tour Show Allow the self indulgence, but I'm going to write a review of my favourite band - Waterparks, who just did an online concert through Veeps last night - The Anti Tour Show (27th March). It's been just over a year since I last saw Awsten Knight, Geoff Wigington and Otto Wood live in London, and since this they've released two further singles 'Lowkey As Hell' and 'Snow Globe' which will feature on their new album 'Greatest Hits' out May 21st.  The stage was beautiful, set up like a forest. Awsten described it as "the most romantic woods you've ever seen". There was obviously a reason behind the bikes and fire hydrants entangled in the leaves, which I'm sure will reveal itself when the album is released.  As with all Waterparks events, the recording was amazing - overseen by Jawn Rocha, who seems to meticulously plan the filming in fine detail. It's surprising how much the varying camera angles, per
